First meeting was held to see if there was sufficient interest
to start a second Rotary Club in Petoskey. In attendance were
Ernie Mainland and Bob Brummeler from the Petoskey-Noon Club
as well as perspective members: Bill Blackburn/Jr Achievement,
Jim Kan/Andrew Kan Travel, Jack Meyers/Emmanuel Episcopal Church,
Sean Pollion/NCMC Foundation, Jennifer Srigley/Top of Michigan
Trails Council and Bob Waldvogel/Waldvogel Insurance. |

Club goes "PROVISIONAL"!! Officers drafted were: President
- Jim Kan, Sec/Treas - Sean Pollion, Sgt at Arms - Rob Billideau/Computerland.
Jennifer Srigley was assigned Bulletin Writer. |

Club's first community project - Bike Trail Clean-up. Club walked
the trail from the waterfront to Beach Road near the Flying Dutchman. |

Club Participated in Char-Em Housing Co-olition "Paint Blitz".
Club members teamed up with members of the noon club to paint
a house for an elderly, single woman. |

Club has food booth at Petoskey's annual street sales event.
Members sold hamburgers and chicken breast sandwiches from 3:30
pm to 7:00 pm. Amount raised was $745.00 to go toward Community
Service Fund. |

Club agrees to pledge $300 toward the Noon club's - Literacy
& Cleft Pallet project in Peru. Getting our 'Feet Wet' in
an international project. |

Club decides to participate in the Rotary Calendar sales fund
raiser. The end result was the sale of 189 calendars with a net
profit of $1890.00. |

Club sponsors a magic show as a CSF fund raiser. Though there
were some tall hurdles to leap during the promotional period
and ticket sales, the even raised $2262.00!! |

DG John Morrision makes his visitation to the club. Signs paper
work to submit request for chartering of the club. Club has 22
members. |

Club decides to undertake emergency toboggan for the
Petoskey Winter Sports Park. Cost was $650. |

It is official!! The
Rotary Club of Petoskey - Sunrise drops 'provisional' status
and obtains 'chartered' status. |

Club members are involved in ringing the bell for the Salvation
Army |

Charter Night event held at Stafford's
Bay View Inn. Emcee for the evening was Ernie Mainland. Keynote
speaker for the event was Michael Hampton, President of the Grand
Rapids Rotary Club. |

Club sponsors Blood Drive at American Red Cross Regional center
in Petoskey. Goal set was 70 units. 68 units were collected.
Seven were first time donors. |

First "Hot Breakfast" was a great success. It was decided
to have this type of a meal once a quarter. |

Club again participates in CHAR-EM Housing Coolition "Paint
Blitz". |

Twelve members show commitment of obtaining Paul Harris Fellowship
by starting sustaining memberships. |

Board approves allocation of $2000.00 from the CSF. The amount
of $250 was presented to the following groups: Blum Hospitality
House, MANNA Project, Women's Resource Center - Safe House, Harbor
Hall, Camp Daggett, Junior Achievement, Salvation Army &
Camp Quality. |

Bike Trail Clean-up. Stretch from waterfront to Beach Road once
again picked up by club. Consideration to adopt this portion
of bike trail as twice a year project. |

SYSCO Fund Raiser project concludes. Amount raised for CSF
was $
Street sale food tent nets $
Club co-sponsors Child I.D. program with noon club. The effort
provided current photos for parents of 250 children in the unlikely
event a child becomes missing. |
